Live Ice Sculpting

Watch the nation’s best professional ice carvers at work on Friday, February 2 from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm and Saturday, February 3 from 10:00 am – 7:00 pm in GDK Park on 8th Street between Central and River Avenues. You won’t believe your eyes as they transform over 10,000 pounds of ice into an incredible large-scale work of art! The installation will remain on display in the park as long as the weather permits.

Interactive Sculptures

Get your selfie smile ready! All throughout Downtown Holland, you’ll find large interactive ice sculptures, single block sculptures, and games made out of ice for the whole family to enjoy! Pose behind the wheel of a car made entirely out of ice or play a game of tic-tac-toe made out of…you guessed it, ice! Ice sculptures will be on display beginning at 4:00 pm on Friday, February 2. Come join the fun!

Snowmelt 5K Fun Run

Join Downtown Holland and the Holland Parks and Recreation for the first-ever Holland on Ice Snowmelt 5K fun run and walk! Bundle up and join us for this fun race through Downtown Holland’s heated streets on Saturday, February 3 at 8:00 am. There’s also a Mini Dash for kids that morning too! Advance registration for the Snowmelt 5K and the Kids’ Mini Dash is required online here!

Meltdown Sale

Downtown Holland hosts the annual Meltdown Sale during Holland on Ice! Participating Downtown Holland clothing boutiques, gift shops, art galleries, specialty stores, and more will be offering deep discounts during the Meltdown Sale as they clear the shelves before spring arrives! Don’t miss your chance to save big at this popular sale! Stay tuned for the list of participating businesses soon!

Social District

As part of the Downtown Holland Social District, visitors ages 21+ can purchase an alcoholic beverage at over a dozen participating bars and restaurants to enjoy outdoors! Sip your drink while you stroll throughout Downtown Holland and check out the ice sculptures! The Social District is open from 11:00 am – 11:00 pm. Snowmelt System

Did you know that Downtown Holland is home to the largest municipally owned Snowmelt System in all of North America? What does that mean for you? It means we have heated sidewalks and streets so you can stroll without a slip and without worrying about wet and cold feet! (But don’t worry…we take extra precautions to ensure that our ice sculptures won’t melt on the sidewalk!)

There’s so much to do in the Holland area all winter long! Enjoy the great outdoors with snow-shoeing, sledding, or hiking in one of Holland’s many parks. Drive out to the Holland State Park to see Lake Michigan and catch a glimpse of Big Red in the winter. Or stay warm and cozy indoors with a visit to one of Holland’s cultural attractions, like the Holland Museum or Knickerbocker Theatre!
